Houston Figure Skating Club Registration Information

Parent/Skater/Coach Relationship:
Parents, the professional coaches, and the skater, shall be considered members of
a team whose main concern is the child's overall progress and development.
Parents shall respect that the professional coach is responsible and empowered
for the on-ice and off-ice development of the athlete. A parent's role shall be to
take a healthy interest in their child's progress and development and be
responsible for the child's nutrition, rest, adherence to off-ice training regimen set
by the coaches or other fitness professional, overall health, life-balance, and
moral and emotional support. Please note, parents are not permitted at the ice
surface, nor are parents permitted to instruct their child but they are more than
welcome to cheer them on from the viewing areas in the arena! Parents are not
invited to view off-ice or dryland sessions at this time as the spaces are small and
it is very distracting. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. The HFSC
Coaches want your skater to succeed. In order to help them do so safely and
effectively we require our skaters to be respectful, put in effort, and have a
positive attitude and to participate in their sessions to the best of their ability. If a
skater is not adhering to this, they will be given a verbal reminder and if it
happens again they will be asked to leave the session for the remainder of the
day. Poor behavior, effort or attitudes do not help us to create a positive,
productive atmosphere on our sessions.
